Warm Spaces

As part of the ACC Warm Spaces initiative, ACC is hosting a Staying Warm & Well Winter Roadshow for Aberdeen residents. It’s a free event and a great opportunity to meet with partners in a central warm space to access information and advice on how we can all take positive steps to stay healthy, reduce costs, maximise income and improve energy efficiency in our homes.

Organisations include Scarf, Financial Inclusion Team, Home Energy Scotland, Scottish Social Security, Care & Repair, Health Point Advisors, Credit Union, Tre-Life and CFine.

The first roadshow will take place at Central Library, Rosemount Viaduct on Thursday 8 December, 10am-2pm with further dates in other Warm Spaces to follow over the winter.

Message from our Chairperson

Good afternoon,

The community council and myself would like to wish Nicky Turnbull and Dan Smith a warm welcome into QXHCC as full members.

We look forward to Nicky and Dan being involved and being active within our community council.  With their extensive knowledge of our local area requirements and issues, we believe they will bring immense value to the team.

Best wishes,

Holburn West Community Group

These past few months, Queen's Cross & Harlaw Community Council and Ashley & Broomhill Community Council have been working together to assist and support the Holburn West Community Group while they work on exploring the idea and feasibility of potentially converting the Holburn West Church building into a community centre.

They are currently working on a business plan, working with advisers from ACVO. One of the most important parts of the business plan is community input, as it’s important that the business plan adheres to the wishes of the community.  Ashley & Broomhill Community Council have put together a short questionnaire on their website, where the public can share their ideas of what they would like to see in the community centre. Please feel free to pass on:

As an unincorporated body, Holburn West Community Group will not be able to purchase the building when/if funding is secured.  A separate SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) will have to be established to take over at this stage. Holburn West Community Group will be holding an open meeting at Holburn West Church, on Wednesday 12 October at 7pm.

They will be welcoming Sandy Mathers from ACVO, and the purpose of the meeting will be to:

Stop the redesign and renaming of the Piper Alpha Memorial Garden

The families of those killed during the Piper Alpha disaster do not want the redesign and renaming of the Piper Alpha Memorial Garden. Queen's Cross & Harlaw Community Council fully support the wishes of the families and what they feel is most appropriate.
